Good friendships are the subject of plenty of country songs, but it's the longest-lasting friendships that are the subject of Montgomery Gentry's new tune, "Two Old Friends," premiering today on The Boot.

We all have the type of friends this song's about: The ones with whom, no matter how long it's been since you've last talked or seen each other, you pick up right where you left off. Friends like these ones get back together and "laugh til it hurts [about] stories they already heard a thousand times," as the song says.

"It's almost like they're back / Leanin' on a Chevrolet / Dragging out a summer day / Talkin' about far away places they ain't been," Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry sing during the chorus. "Ain't it funny how the road always meets again?"

"Two Old Friends" was written by Tony Martin, Jessica McCall and Wendell Mobley. It will appear on Montgomery Gentry's upcoming Folks Like Us album, which is set for release on June 9, on Blaster Records through RED Distribution.

"I can definitely hear some growth and maturity in the new music, but Folks Like Us still feels like a Montgomery Gentry record,” Gentry says. “There are probably a few more introspective moments on the album, and front to back, this might just be our strongest record yet.”
