Dreams really do come true -- and Miranda Lambert is proof. She and her country hero, Patty Loveless, teamed up for two songs during the ACM Presents: Superstar Duets TV special, which aired on Friday (May 15).

The singers performed Loveless' "Blame It on Your Heart," which was a No. 1 song in 1993, as well as "Dear Diamond," which Lambert specifically wrote with her hero in mind after they became friends.

“Patty and I became friends really in Switzerland,” Lambert recalls. “That’s really when our love affair began … we had a pretty huge party in our hotel suite after.”

“I think we started in yours, and then we went up to my room,” Loveless adds.

“I was requesting Patty Loveless songs from Patty Loveless for, like, three hours,” Lambert says with a laugh.

In the video below, Lambert explains the genesis of "Dear Diamond" before performing the song, saying, "I became friends with Patty and wanted to write a song she could sing on. So I sat in a hotel room in Los Angeles and wrote this song called "Dear Diamond.""

Loveless was equally excited about performing with the "Mama's Broken Heart" hitmaker.

""Blame It on Your Heart" was a Song of the Year in 1994," Loveless recalls. "And I just couldn’t believe it … I mean, having the opportunity to do this together."

Adds Lambert, “It's awesome. I love that song. And I feel like it kinda meshes our two styles together … it sounds like it’s perfect for right now. That’s what’s awesome about it.”

The high-energy song (shown in the video above) blends the two singers' styles, voices and personalities together for a fun-filled performance.

ACM Presents: Superstar Duets was filmed right before the 2015 ACM Awards in April. Other country superstar pairings included Luke Bryan with Ronnie Milsap, Dwight Yoakam with Sam Hunt, Keith Urban with John Anderson and the Band Perry with Deana Carter, among others.
