Among the five nominees for Entertainer of the Year at the 2015 ACM AwardsMiranda Lambert is the only female, an accomplishment she says she's "really proud" of.

The award is one of the most prestigious in country music and just being nominated is a huge honor, but the singer says that the prospect of winning is a bit intimidating.

“That’s the one you sort of think about whenever you’re 20 years old and starting this whole process. You think, ‘I want to nominated for Entertainer of the Year one day,’” she says in an interview on AMP Radio. “And it’s scary, you know? It’s just such a huge category. Everybody in it deserves it. I mean, you don’t get there unless you work your butt off for all these years and so, I’m really proud to be the only female. I mean, I feel like I’m sort of waving the flag for all the other female artists who are up and coming. It’s a struggle right now with female artists and country.”

Lambert says she doesn't quite know why female artist have been struggling more than their male counterparts in the industry in recent years, but she's worked really hard to achieve her level of success.

"I’m not really sure ... I can’t put my finger on it, but also realize too, it’s so much work. I mean, you really have to put in the time and you have to be able to sacrifice, you know, relationships sometimes and family and just put your nose to the ground," she says. "You know, it separates the boys from the men to be a female and get to a certain level of success."

With eight nominations, Lambert received more nods from the ACM than any other artist this year. In addition to Entertainer of the Year, she's also up for Song of the Year, Single Record and Album of the Year for her latest release, Platinum.

“I’m proud of it,” she says of the album. “I’ve said that about this record more than any record I’ve ever made, and I don’t really know why. I guess just being a little bit older than I was when I made my first record. I’ve been doing this for twelve years now, so like, I think I’m a little more conscious of everything that’s at stake if it’s not great, you know?”

The ACM Awards take place Sunday, April 19.
