Miranda Lambert insists babies aren't on the brain just yet, but she still has plenty of maternal feelings, thanks to the large brood of animals she has at home with hubby Blake Shelton. The proud mama of six dogs, Miranda says that the couple's busy schedule doesn't allow them to spend as much time with their pets as they'd like, but there are a few who seem to get preferential treatment.

"I have two small dogs, Delta and Cher, so they are usually the ones who go on tour," she explains to People magazine. The "Mama's Broken Heart" singer adds that there's another pooch who is also a good traveler, but who likes the other parent more. "Betty is one of our dogs that we take on tour with us as well, but she's kind of a daddy's girl, so she hangs out with Blake a lot."

Miranda, who rescued each of her animals, feels strongly about helping four-legged friends in need. For that reason, she was eager to help launch the Pedigree Feeding Project, which will supply one pet shelter in a community with a year's worth supply of food.

"It's so cool for me to be part of it because my passions are music and animals," the 29-year-old explains (quote via ABC News). "They [Pedigree] are looking for a new community, and they will give shelters in that community food for a year and it's saved shelters up to $100,000 in the past so they are able to use that money for other things ... It's going to draw so much attention and awareness to shelters across the country."

Miranda, who also founded MuttNation, a non-profit dedicated to helping animals in need through shelters, health care, pet rescue and adoption, will have to love some of her animals from afar for the next few months. She is currently on the road with Dierks Bentley for their Locked & Reloaded tour. See a list of her upcoming shows here.
