Miranda Lambert Releases Video for ‘Automatic’

Miranda Lambert has released the video for her latest single, ‘Automatic.’

In the video for the song, which is the debut single from her upcoming album, ‘Platinum,’ Lambert relives memories that appear as she uncovers treasures in a chest in an attic. As she pulls out several items, including long-lost letters, a ring and an old mix tape of summer songs, the video also shows the songstress driving in an old pickup truck down a dusty road, where modern conveniences still seem years away.

“‘Automatic’ is a song about the good life,” she explains. “It’s about slowing down, taking a breath and remembering what it’s like to live life a little more simply. It’s not about going back, but reminiscing about what it was like to hang laundry on the line and wait for it to dry and my dad teaching me how to drive my ’55 Chevy that I still have but don’t drive nearly enough.”

The 30-year-old, who wrote ‘Automatic’ with Nicole Galyon and Natalie Hemby, says the tune serves as a personal message for her when life gets too hectic.

“The song brings back good memories and it reminds me to take a deep breath and to remember that getting there is half the fun,” she notes.

‘Platinum’ will be released on June 3. The album also includes a duet with Carrie Underwood, on the song ‘Something Bad,’ which Lambert hints might be released as a single, since she already has a video in mind.

Lambert’s next scheduled performance is at the upcoming 2014 ACM Awards, which will be held on April 6. She is nominated for seven awards, including Video of the Year for ‘Mama’s Broken Heart,’ as well as the night’s highest honor, Entertainer of the Year.
