On Tuesday night (Aug. 30), Miranda Lambert will receive a very special honor at the 2016 ACM Honors: the ACM Merle Haggard Spirit Award.

Rolling Stone reports that Lambert will receive the first-ever ACM Merle Haggard Spirit Award, established this year in honor of the late country icon. The new award aims to recognize the contributions of Haggard, one of country music’s most prolific performers, by acknowledging artists who exemplify his uncompromising integrity and “singular vision in carving an indelible path in country music." Lambert, who will also be performing at the 2016 ACM Honors ceremony, often pays tribute to "the Hag" in concert, and helped honor him at the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors and the 2014 ACM Awards.

“Merle was an integral part of the Academy’s history, and it was important to us that we honor his legacy," says ACM EVP / Managing Director Tiffany Moon. "We couldn’t imagine anyone better suited to receive the first ever ACM Merle Haggard Spirit Award than Miranda."

In addition to Lambert, awards recipients at the 2016 ACM Honors, as previously announced, will include Carrie Underwood (ACM Lifting Lives Gary Haber Award), Campbell (2016 Career Achievement Award), Crystal GayleTanya Tucker and the Statler Brothers (Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award), Little Big Town (Crystal Milestone Award) and more. Additionally, Jason Aldean, along with performing, will receive the Triple Crown Award, honoring his New Male Vocalist of the Year (2005), Male Vocalist of the Year (2012-2014) and Entertainer of the Year (2016) wins; he is one of only seven artists to achieve this feat. Other performers include Chris YoungDan + Shay, the Band PerryDierks Bentley, Toby Keith, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban and more.

The 2016 ACM Honors ceremony -- which celebrates the special honorees and off-camera category winners from the 51st ACM Awards, which took place back in April -- will take place on Aug. 30 at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium, and the show will be produced for television by Dick Clark Productions and broadcast on CBS on Sept. 9 at 9PM ET. In addition to performing, Lady Antebellum will also be hosting the evening.
