Mel Tillis might be recovering from heart surgery, but his sense of humor has remained intact. The singer was asked by his publicist if he ever uses Twitter, and his response is priceless.

The singer returned to the stage of the Grand Ole Opry this weekend for his first performance since having emergency quadruple bypass surgery in March, as part of Nashville's annual CMA Music Fest. Tillis performed on both Friday and Saturday night (June 6 and 7), and plans on returning to the road later this month, thanks to the support of his loyal fans.

“I’ve been hearing from fans from all over the world,“ the 81-year-old says. “Australia, New Zealand . . . everywhere! They’ve been praying for me! I miss them all so much, and I can’t wait to get back out there on the road to thank them in person!”

A list of Tillis' upcoming concert dates, which includes stops in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Texas later this month, is available here.
