Mary Chapin Carpenter will release her first orchestral album early next year. 'Songs From the Movie' is a compilation of new interpretations of 10 of her most beloved tunes.

The album, which she recorded at Air Studios in London, was arranged and conducted by six-time Grammy Award winner Vince Mendoza, whose lengthy list of credits include Sting, Chris Botti and Joni Mitchell. Carpenter co-produced the record with famed producer Matt Rollings.

“Working with Vince Mendoza was incredibly inspiring," Carpenter says. "His arrangements gave these existing songs new meanings, new colors, new feelings, new destinations. To hear them played by the world class orchestra assembled at Air Studios was beyond any artistic experience that I could have imagined.”

The New Jersey native will embark on a multi-city tour with Shawn Colvin in November, and following the release of the new album, she will play select dates with a full orchestra in Scotland, California and Arizona.

'Songs From The Movie' is set for release on Jan. 14 from Zoe/Rounder Records. See both the track listing and tour dates below.
