Martina McBride is often seen as an unstoppable, trend-setting female icon, who bravely sings about sensitive subjects and commands a stage with her powerful vocals and dynamic personality. But the 45-year-old admits there is one aspect of the entertainment business that is still terrifying to her: acting.

"I don't know if I can do it," she admits to CMIL. "As fearless as I seem, I'm sort of like, 'What if I don't like it? What if I'm no good at it?' I don't know if I want to open myself up that way."

The superstar admits it might have been easier to make her foray into the small screen a few years ago. "The camera's gonna be on me [and] there's certain issues that I have now that I didn't have when I was 25," she concedes.

The proud mother of three girls cast her daughters in her video, 'Teenage Daughters,' which she maintains proves her children have creative talents they didn't get from Mom. "I was surprised at how natural they were," she confesses to The Boot. "I don't think we could have cast actors who could have done any better. It was a lot to put on them -- we didn't have a rehearsal. They kinda just got thrown into it. [16-year-old] Delaney especially has a flair for comedic acting. It really surprised me in that I had never seen her do that before. I loved sharing the experience with them. We'll always have that."

The Kansas native recently tackled another fear, when she began co-writing her own songs. It was a challenge she's now grateful to have faced head-on. "The acting thing for me is kind of like the writing thing. I was like, 'I don't really need to do that. I'm cool. I'm good with just singing and doing this whole thing.' Once I did open myself up to [writing] and to dedicating myself to really focusing and making it happen, it's enriched my life so much ... So with that to say, I probably would try acting at some point. I just have to get braver!"

The multi-platinum-selling singer has watched several of her friends and peers, including close pals Faith Hill and Reba McEntire, delve into acting roles, which may be the boost she needs. In fact, she is already eyeing a guest spot on Reba's upcoming new TV show, 'Malibu Country.'

"I would love that!" she gushes.

For now, Martina will stick to the place she is most comfortable -- belting out hits behind the microphone. Fresh off her Eleven Across America train tour, the vivacious entertainer is performing a handful of shows in the next few months, including a stop in St. Petersburg, Fla. this Saturday (Nov. 5). Keep track of her tour schedule here.
