Mark Wills appeared on the stage of the show 'The Doctors' on Jan. 13 to surprise a fan with a deep connection to his song 'Don't Laugh at Me.'

Sarah Atwell suffers from neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder with no known cure. The disorder disturbs cell growth within the nervous system and has caused a large tumor to grow on the right side of her face. The 17-year-old was on the show to discuss her condition, but had no idea that Wills was hiding in the wings to perform her favorite song.

“I guess the words just jumped out to me,” Atwell says after Dr. Travis Stork asks why 'Don't Laugh at Me' is her favorite song.

Stork then says that he would love the audience to hear the song and asks for the song to start in the sound booth, but instead of playing the recorded track, Wills walks out playing the intro to the song.

“Can I play this song for you?” he asks after sitting down next to the teen. “You can sing along if you want to.” The performance was a moving experience for the audience and the doctors, with many wiping tears from their eyes watching Wills perform for Atwell.
