Maddie & Tae have jumped onto the country scene in a big way, but one of the girls may not have joined the industry without the help of Lee Ann Womack.

"I believe I was either four or five, and Lee Ann Womack's music video for 'I Hope You Dance' had just come out, and I just remember watching it, and I was like, 'I want to do that so badly!' It really captivated me very young," Maddie says.

That's pretty young to make a decision about your future career, but Tae says the decision was made for her at an even younger age.

"For me, I just grew up around music. My dad's side of the family is very musical, they all played instruments, so I think I was just born with it if that's possible," she says.

The 'Girl in a Country Song' singers were both working on music separately from their homes in Texas and Oklahoma when they met at a show in Dallas almost four years ago and liked each other's voices. Once they found out they could both write as well, the rest was history.

"We both found out we both write songs," Maddie says. "So, we got in a room together and started writing, and it was just instant."
