Maddie & Tae Share Details of 2015 CMA Awards Performance

In addition to being nominated for three trophies at the 2015 CMA Awards, Maddie & Tae are also set to perform during the awards show. Although Maddie Marlow and Tae Dye did not reveal which song they will be singing, the two young women did give The Boot a few details about their performance..

"It’s acoustic. No tracks," Marlow reveals. "It’s what we’re all about. We spent four years together, playing, just us and our guitars, so it feels like home whenever we’re that stripped down."

Adds Dye, "We’re playing our own instruments. We have our band with us. It’s all guitars, mandolin."

Marlow and Dye are in the running for Vocal Duo of the Year, New Artist of the Year and Music Video of the Year, the latter for "Girl in a Country Song." They say that just being nominated makes them feel like winners.

"We were both in our apartments, and we were told that [the nominees announcement] was going to be on TV, but neither of us saw it," Dye recalls. "We got on Twitter, and we kept refreshing our feed, and [when] it got announced on Twitter, we were both jumping up and down, doing the happy dance. And then we saw one, and then we saw two, and we thought it couldn’t get any better, and then we saw three.

"We would fall to the ground with any of them," she adds. "I’m gonna be a hot mess that night."

The big night is just further validation for the pair that their hard work is paying off.

"It’s insane how involved we are," Marlow notes. "To be accepted the way we have been is incredible."

The 2015 CMA Awards will air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on Nov. 4  at 8PM ET on ABC.
