Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute CD Honors Band’s Country Roots

Lynyrd Skynyrd, one of country-rock's most influential acts, is getting an all-star tribute from a new crop of artists clearly walking in the shoes of the phenomenally successful Florida band.

Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson and Uncle Kracker are among the musicians who have recorded tracks for 'Sweet Home Alabama -- The Country Music Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd,' due out July 20 and available exclusively at Wal-Mart. The disc was produced by Jay Joyce, best known for his work with, among many others, Miranda Lambert, LeAnn Rimes and Eric Church.

The eight tracks on the album include Randy Houser's version of 'Simple Man, the Eli Young Band's take on 'Gimme Three Steps,' a version of 'Call Me the Breeze' by Shooter Jennings, 'Tuesday's Gone,' contributed by Randy Montana and 'Sweet Home Alabama' rendered by Ashley Ray.
