Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt Tour Set for March

Lyle Lovett will follow the debut of his new album, 'Release Me,' next week, with an intimate, acoustic tour, recruiting old friend and frequent collaborator John Hiatt to join him. The trek begins at the State Theater in Minneapolis, Minn., on March 7, wrapping up at the Saenger Theatre in Pensacola, Fla., on March 25. Lyle is also set for an acoustic band show at New York City's Concert Hall at New York Society for Ethical Culture on Feb. 28.

Featuring a mix of original and cover tunes, 'Release Me' is the cleverly-titled eleventh studio album from the Texas native. The disc is his last for Curb/Universal Music Group, the label that has released all recorded output since Lyle's critically-acclaimed debut in 1986. His last five albums have all reached the Top 10 on the country chart.

In an interview with Rolling Stone last year, the Grammy-winning performer, who has also carved out a successful career for himself as an actor, said he looks forward to the next phase in his long and varied career.

"I don't know really how it's gonna go, but I probably want to make my records myself and then figure out how to sell them after they're made," Lyle told the magazine. "[Curb's] been great to me and they've given me my career, but I'm excited to see what's next."

The eclectic singer-songwriter will make the TV rounds next week, first dropping by CBS' 'The Late Show With David Letterman' on Monday (Feb. 27), followed by an appearance on ABC's 'The View' on Leap Day Wednesday, and MSNBC's 'Morning Joe' on Friday, March 2.

'Release Me' hits stores Feb. 28, while John Hiatt's current album, 'Dirty Jeans and Mudslide Hymns,' was released in August 2011. See all the dates for Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt's acoustic tour schedule here.
