Luke Bryan is shaken up in the wake of a stage collapse that injured four of his crew members Thursday night (Jan. 16). In a radio interview Friday (Jan. 17), the ‘Drink a Beer’ singer expressed relief that things didn’t turn out much worse.

“It was minor injuries that really, really could have been catastrophic,” Bryan tells radio station 98.1 the Bull.

“We had one guy that if he had not gotten out of the way, it could have been a life or death situation. It was scary,” the singer states. “But everybody’s okay. No fans were in the building when any of this happened.”

Preliminary reports state that a forklift struck the back of the stage while crew members were tearing it down after Bryan’s opening night gig at the Schottenstein Center on the Ohio State University campus. His show scheduled for Friday night at the Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky. has been re-scheduled for Feb. 21. Bryan says some equipment was damaged, and many of his crew members are still in Ohio.

But the show — which features Lee Brice and Cole Swindell as Bryan’s opening acts — will go on, even if later than planned.

“We’re just so bummed for the people in Lexington,” Bryan states. “We want to make it go well and make everything run smooth. Lee and Cole can still be on the show. We will come back in and make it even more exciting, even more fun.”
