Luke Bryan is taking a couple days off from his role as opening act for Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party tour, to soak up the sunshine. The 'Drunk on You' singer is currently in Panama City, Fla. to perform two shows (on March 13 and 14) as part of his annual Spring Break tour, to coincide with the release of his latest EP, 'Spring Break 4 ... Suntan City.' But while he takes his role as an entertainer very seriously, the Georgia native admits he is ready to have a good time, too.

"It's the only show of the year that I drink while I perform," Luke tells the Huffington Post. "It seems like the thing to do."

The 35-year-old has returned to the same northern Florida town every year since he started doing the 'Spring Break' albums in 2009. "Growing up in South Georgia, Panama City was where we always went to," he explains. "That's where we always did spring break. Actually, my wife and I, we spent a spring break down there our first year we were dating. It's a fun area!"

The married father of two will follow up his Spring Break shows with two performances in Las Vegas, as part of the festivities surrounding the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. In addition to performing for the awards ceremony on April 1, he will also take the stage the following night, as part of Lionel Richie's TV special, 'ACM Presents: Lionel Richie and Friends -- A Lifetime of Hits.' Luke will sing 'Running With the Night' with the music icon.

"It was certainly a wonderful opportunity to be a part of that Lionel Richie tribute with the ACMs," Luke gushes. "And he was definitely in my top five, top three most influential songwriters and singers and, in my opinion, one of the greatest songwriters ever. He was a huge inspiration to me. So it was a no-brainer. I was saying my prayers every night that I got that opportunity."

With his busy touring schedule, the singer-songwriter has to spend time away from his wife, Caroline, and his two little boys, but he says he has good company while on the road. "My best artist friend is definitely Jason Aldean," he notes. "He and I really get along great and are really great friends. It's fun to tour with a buddy and somebody that I just enjoy hanging out with. If we weren't touring together, we'd be hunting in the off-season still and knocking around doing stuff, certainly."

In addition to his shows in the Sunshine State, Luke's upcoming dates include stops in Kansas, Missouri and Ohio. Keep track of his schedule here.
