Luke Bryan is set to host the second annual Keep the Music Playing All-Star Concert, offering inspiration to further ignite the musical passions of 300 elementary, middle and high-school student participants.

As part of the February 1 concert at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center, Luke will perform with Nashville School of the Arts guitar student Sam Hunter and spend time with some of the other student performers from schools including Croft Middle School Orchestra and Nashville School of the Arts Jazz Band.

“Everybody’s been good to me,” Luke tells the Boot of the helping hands other musicians have given him as his career has blossomed. “It’s been great just watching how [other artists] operate and how the people working for them operate. I try to incorporate all of it into the way I do things.”

Luke isn’t alone in wanting to boost students’ musical interest and education. Sara Evans recently worked with students from the Pearl-Cohn High School to give them performance tips and musical advice in advance of the concert, according to event co-sponsor Country Music Association.

“I honestly didn’t know what I was walking into exactly, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of my whole entire career,” says Sara. “These kids were so amazing and they were such an inspiration to me. I wanted to come in and talk to them about pursuing music or not giving up on a dream and when I came in and they started singing I was just kind of overwhelmed with emotion.”

The event is co-hosted by the Nashville Alliance for Public Education and CMA and presented by SunTrust Bank. The Nashville Alliance has partnered with CMA’s Keep the Music Playing program since 2006 and has provided more than 4,000 musical instruments and music labs for nearly 70 Metro public schools.

The Keep the Music Playing concert is free to students’ families and schools. For more information about the event, click here.
