Luke Bryan Has a Friend in Jason Aldean

Luke Bryan has returned to the road opening a handful of shows for Jason Aldean. The pair, who toured together this past winter and spring, have a lot in common, besides both hailing from Georgia.

"Jason and I, we really hit it off," Luke tells The Boot. "It's funny, we're both big [Georgia] Bulldog fans, so we're kind of hating a little bit of life a little right now. The Dawgs are struggling a little bit, but we'll still convene and watch games on Saturdays ... Jason's a much more quiet and reserved guy until you get to hanging out with him. It was funny, we'd roll into town and I'd have a fishing trip or something planned, and I would just get off the bus and go fishing. I'd get back, and he'd be like, 'Where have you been?' I said, 'I've been fishing,' and he's like, 'You aren't going to call me next time?' Now I've learned that if I plan some off-site activity, if I don't let him in on it, he gets a little mad. He wants to be fishing, too. So, we just got a lot of hang time on the first tour. We just had a great time."

Luke liked and respected his tourmate, but it was not until earlier this year that he truly found a friend in Jason. "I'll never forget. This told me what kind of person he was -- when I won the first level of the ACM Awards, the Top New Vocalist, I found out right before Jason was going on stage, and I went into their little Vibe room [backstage], and I was like, 'Hey guys! I won the Top New Vocalist,' and Jason had won it the year before. He flew up off that couch and he was jumping up and down like he had won the award and was just so happy for me. It was true, honest, being fired-up, being excited for me, and he said, 'Welcome to the club, man. Me and you got the same award.' It told me this guy's for real, and he and his family, they're just great people, so I'm just excited to be out with him again."

Luke, who is scaling the country charts with his new single 'Someone Else Calling You Baby,' returns to the road with Jason in Columbia, S.C., on October 2, following a few dates on his Farm Tour. Check out more of Luke's tour dates here.
