Luke Bryan has touched a nerve with his newest single. 'Drink a Beer' has given the superstar his ninth No. 1 hit.

The song is the third single from Bryan's chart-topping album ‘Crash My Party,’ which opened at No. 1 across all genres last year. Written by Jim Beavers and Chris Stapleton, the emotional ballad is a change of pace from some of his more recent up-tempo fare.

“This is the coolest sad song ever,” Bryan says. “It holds a special place in my heart and I am honored the writers allowed me to record it.”

Bryan debuted the song with an emotional performance at the CMA Awards that was dedicated in honor of his brother, Chris, and sister, Kelly,  who passed away in 1996 and 2007. The video for the song borrows footage from that performance.

The singer admits he still struggles with the pain of their passing. “I don’t like it,” he acknowledges. “I don’t like that my sons are missing that side of my family. But someone else is deciding things.”

Bryan's That's My Kind of Night Tour has sold out all dates of its first 2014 leg, and will also include his first-ever headline stadium shows this summer on June 21 in Pittsburgh at Heinz Field,  Lincoln Financial Field on August 15 in Philadelphia, and August 31 in Chicago at Soldier Field.

He is also nominated for three ACM awards, including Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year and Entertainer of the Year. Bryan will return to co-host the show again this year with Blake Shelton.

The 2014 ACM Awards will air live on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 8PM ET on CBS.
