With the 2016 ACM Awards coming up in early April, Luke Bryan is preparing to take the stage as one of the evening's hosts. This year, Bryan is co-hosting with Dierks Bentley, who has replaced Bryan's previous co-host, Blake Shelton. Bryan recently sat down with The Boot to explain what fans can expect during the big event.

"Dierks can read better than Blake," Bryan deadpans. "He's just smarter than Blake."

In all seriousness, Bryan adds that he's "very excited to be a part of it with Dierks" -- but having "veteran host" status weirds the singer out just a little bit.

"I'll have to assume the role of responsibility and carry Dierks through this thing," Bryan jokes.

The ACM Awards will contain many exciting moments, from the trophy presentations to the performances, but Bryan says that he's most excited for the beginning of the show.

"It's always fun kicking off the show, doing the monologue," he admits. "It sets the tone for the night."

A self-proclaimed "giddy fan of country music," Bryan loves the whole ACM Awards evening. After all, what could be better than being in Las Vegas and watching his fellow country stars be honored for their work?

In addition to co-hosting the ACMs, Bryan is going head to head with Jason Aldean, Garth Brooks, Eric Church and Miranda Lambert for Entertainer of the Year. Though he's the current ACM Awards Entertainer of the Year (he's won the trophy twice before and been nominated for it four times), Bryan says that "it's an honor" to be nominated once again, calling the category a "huge deal."

Bryan will have an incredibly busy evening at the 2016 ACM Awards: In addition to co-hosting and being nominated, he's also set to perform during the ceremony. The singer got a whole lot of practice on Thursday (March 10) at his sold-out RodeoHouston show, during which he played for 75,082 fans.
