2015 Golden Boot Awards: Vote Now for the Living Legend Award

The Golden Boot Awards are back!

The Boot's fan-voted digital awards return in 2015 for a second year, and this time around, we've added two new categories -- New Artist of the Year and the Living Legend Award -- in addition to our five original categories: Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Music Video of the Year and Live Act of the Year. Each category features staff-selected nominees who made waves in the country music world from May 2014 through April 2015. Let's take a look at this year's Living Legend Award nominees.

Glen Campbell's impact on country music has been evident since the 1960s, but this year, he made waves in the country scene for a different reason. Alzheimer's disease has taken ahold of Campbell, but his documentary, Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me, was released in September 2014, and his final song, "I'm Not Gonna Miss You," received an Oscar nod and won a Grammy.

Vince Gill had a fantastic and awards-filled year. He embarked on the 2015 Vince Gill & Friends Tour, received the rare Irving Waugh Award of Excellence at the 2014 CMA Awards, was honored at the BMI Country Awards and showed country fans that although he's only 58 years old, he's a legend in his own right.

Merle Haggard is a work machine, even at the age of 78. He's readying a full-length collaborative record, Django and Jimmie, with good friend Willie Nelson; released the album's first single and music video, "It's All Going to Pot;" and received the Artist of a Lifetime Award at the CMT Artists of the Year ceremony in December.

Alan Jackson celebrated his 25th year in country music, complete with a special tour commemorating the accomplishment. Plus, he had a Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit open in his honor.

Much like his friend Haggard, Nelson is 82 and busier than ever. He's truly a living legend and is putting out that new record with Haggard, planning his 30th annual Farm Aid concert and also bringing his Fourth of July picnic back to Austin.

The Oak Ridge Boys were recently announced as 2015 Country Music Hall of Fame inductees. The group has been together for over 40 years -- quite the accomplishment.

Dolly Parton is, of course, always a contender for a Living Legend Award. The singer, who admits that she's "just not the kind to retire," is celebrating Dollywood's 30th anniversary throughout 2015.

Kenny Rogers said goodbye to Australia and New Zealand in a farewell tour recently, though he plans on continuing to tour in other parts of the world. He also embarked on a Christmas tour, his 33rd holiday trek.

George Strait may have retired from the road, but that doesn't mean he's done with country music. The singer recently released a new single, "Let It Go," and performed the song at the 2015 ACM Awards.

Randy Travis will always be loved by the country music community, and even though a stroke has severely changed him, he's still showing his love for the genre by appearing at events. He most recently delighted fans by appearing at the 2015 ACM Awards and penned a heartfelt letter stating his desire to perform again.
