Lee Greenwood will dedicate his performance of the national anthem and his signature hit, 'God Bless the USA,' at the Valero Alamo Bowl to 60 of San Antonio's fallen military heroes. The country legend and recipient of the National Patriot's Award will take the field on Dec. 29 before the Washington Huskies take on the Baylor Bears, whose quarterback Robert Griffin III won this year's Heisman trophy.

Lee's pre-game performance will honor troops from the San Antonio area who have died during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan over the past decade. Members of Lackland Air Force Base 37th Training Wing will unfurl an American flag as big as the football field while he sings.

'God Bless the USA' has been a beloved patriotic anthem since it hit the airwaves in 1983. Lee's latest release is the seven song EP, 'I Want to Be in Your World,' and his new book is scheduled to hit stores next spring.

The Valero Alamo Bowl airs Dec. 29 at 9:00 PM ET on ESPN.
