LeAnn Rimes Leaves Treatment Center With Renewed Focus

LeAnn Rimes recently returned to her home in Los Angeles after spending 30 days in treatment to deal with anxiety and stress. While the month-long stay may have seemed intense at times, she says it felt perfectly natural for her to take a break to deal with her own issues.

“I’ve been in therapy my whole life,” she tells the Boston Herald. “I like going. I like being able to have that third-party input and someone to listen that has nothing to do with your life. Everyone has an opinion of how I am and how I should be, and now I’m focusing on how I want to be.”

LeAnn checked into the center shortly after a Twitter feud erupted between the singer and California teacher and mother Kimberly Smiley and her daughter, Lexi, who had allegedly made derogatory comments about her. A phone call which the suit claims was unlawfully recorded without LeAnn’s knowledge is at the center of an ongoing lawsuit. No matter the end result of that court case, LeAnn says she now has a better grasp on how to handle social-networking sites.

“I think it’s really hard to deal with Twitter and Facebook and all these social media outlets,” she explains. “And it’s hard to take it day after day of reading and seeing things that someone you don’t even know says about you. As much as you said you don’t want it to penetrate, it does, because you’re human.”

The 30-year-old admits that she also needed to deal with her own emotional turmoil from the last decade, including her divorce from first husband, Dean Sheremet, in light of a highly-publicized affair with her now-husband, actor Eddie Cibrian.

“I had some wonderful times in my 20s, but your 20s are hard,” she notes. “It was a lot of learning experiences … and a lot were thrown at me publicly. I was ready to embrace 30.”

LeAnn is facing the new decade with the release of a new album, Spitfire, which is expected to hit shelves early next year. She’ll also spend much of the next few months on tour. Keep track of her upcoming shows here.
