LeAnn Rimes was at the airport in Aspen, Colo., when a plane crashed while attempting to land on Sunday (Jan. 5).

Rimes was one of two celebrities to witness the crash. Comedian Kevin Nealon was also at the airport, and was the first of the two to tweet about the event.

Rimes, who was in Aspen for New Year's and has been tweeting vacation photos, was also within view of the crash, and used her Twitter page to express her concern about the event.

Later in the day, after arriving safely in Los Angeles, she tweeted, "Counting our blessings even more so after seeing a tragedy & driving 7 hrs to Denver through tons of snow and traffic. Would have missed our flight if it wasn't delayed. We are being watched over, that's for sure."

She added, "Hope all the other travelers make it home safely and many prayers for the victims & their families of the #aspencrash in this heartbreaking time."

According to ABC News, the plane was a private jet that crashed on its second landing attempt after pilots aborted the first attempt due gusty winds. Co-pilot Sergio Carranza Brabata was killed in the crash. Two others were taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo.
