Lauren Alaina has written and recorded a brand-new song, "History," which will be used by ESPN during their college football season.

“For a southern girl, college football is everything," Alaina gushes. "I am so pumped to have my song used for ESPN’s college football coverage. Thank you ESPN for giving me something to make my boyfriend, dad, and brother think I’m that much cooler.”

Lady Antebellum are also getting in on the game as well. A remix of the award-winning trio's "Friday Night" will be heard on Friday nights, with their "All Nighter" song featured in a mix of songs on Saturday night that includes David Nail's "Good at Tonight," Imagine Dragons' "Friction," X Ambassadors' "Superpower" and "Seeing Stars" by Born.

Alaina isn't the only American Idol alum who is contributing to football this season. Carrie Underwood will once again sing the theme song, "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" during the 2015-2016 NFL season of Sunday Night Football. The songstress recorded and filmed a new version for this year, which marks her third straight year performing the tune.

“History” will also be used in the advertising campaign leading up to the College Football Playoff semifinals on New Year’s Eve, as well as the National Championship in January.

The Georgia native has also been writing songs for her new album, which she hopes to release early next year.

“There’s 12 songs on the album, and I wrote all of them but one,” Alaina tells The Boot. “I had plenty of time to work on it. I worked on it for about two years.”
“Out of everything I’ve ever done, I had time to figure myself out, come into my sound,” she adds. “I’m excited for people to hear it. It’s a new me.”
