Lady Antebellum were true to their pre-Grammy Award promise, wowing the thousands packed into Los Angeles' Staples Center and millions glued to their television sets for the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards.

In a performance that perfectly displayed their incredible three-part harmonies, the trio sang the classic 'If You Don't Know Me by Now,' in tribute to Teddy Pendergrass who died January 13, 2010. They followed with a few verses of their own 'American Honey' and 'Need You Now.'

Immediately after the performance, the trio thanked God, their families, friends, and record label team for the support and work that led to the group winning the Grammy for Best Country Album for 'Need You Now.' The trio also won Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals for 'Need You Now,' which also took home Best Country Song and the all-genre Song of the Year honors for the trio and their co-writer, Josh Kear.

Lady A bandmates admitted prior to the show that they were more nervous about the performance than the six awards for which they were nominated. Hillary Scott spent weeks dieting to fit into the form-fitting black outfit she wore.

"Whenever we're not in the studio, I'm doing crunches or something, lunges at my house," she said a few weeks before the awards ceremony.

Although Charles Kelley also made some diet changes to ensure he'd also look his best at the ceremony, he said that he wasn't going to extremes.

"I ate a lot of fried food, fried chicken over the holidays. So, I'm cutting back on that a little bit, but man, it's going to be hard to curb the drinking," he said. "There's too much celebrating. So, I won't be backing down on that at all."

The group have skyrocketed to fame in the last few years, winning 18 major awards -- including the 2010 Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for 'I Run to You.'

Lady A will return to their home city of Nashville following the Grammy Awards, where they will take the stage at the Wildhorse Saloon for a special benefit for the W.O. Smith School of Music. Their tour, which includes David Nail, nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Male Country Performance for 'Turning Home,' will resume on March 10 in Tunica, Miss.
