Lady Antebellum Fulfilling the ‘Need’ for New Album
Lady Antebellum will ring in 2010 with the release of the follow-up to their platinum debut. The trio's sophomore effort, titled 'Need You Now,' is due out Jan. 26.
The collection's first single, the title track, is the fastest rising of their career, reaching the Billboard Top 10 in just nine weeks.
"This song, and what we've finished of the new album so far, is all about passion," explains guitarist/vocalist Dave Haywood. "There's a real sense of urgency and fire ... almost like a spark has reignited us creatively in the studio ... so when we started talking about album titles, 'Need You Now' felt like it summarized our vibe right now perfectly."
In addition to being certified platinum, the critically-acclaimed 'Lady Antebellum' album has achieved gold-record status in Canada. And in the 18 months since its release, the album remains in the Top 10 on the iTunes Country chart.
"This is just beyond anything we ever could have imagined when we sat down to write our first song together in 2006," says Hillary Scott of the platinum certification. "I wish we could thank every one of the fans personally ... that would be the coolest thing in the world for us. Everybody always says they have the best fans in the world, but 'everybody' hasn't met Lady A's fans ... they are truly the best!"
Lady Antebellum will debut 'Need You Now during an appearance on 'The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien,' on Friday (Oct. 9).
