Kristin Chenoweth seems to have it all: an award-winning career as a Broadway star, appearances on several hit TV shows (including 'Glee') and five critically-acclaimed studio albums, including her recent foray into country music with 'Some Lessons Learned.' But the petite powerhouse admits there's one thing she still longs for: a spouse with whom to share her incredible life.

"I'd love to have a husband, to have a child ... " she tells Prevention magazine (quote via People.com). "It hasn't exactly worked out that way, and that's OK ... I would still love to have that partner who's going to take care of me yet let me do my thing ... yet has his own gig going on, yet isn't intimidated!"

The blond beauty explains she's picky when it comes to men. And for that, there's another man to blame. "My dad has been a great example of what a father is and what a husband should be," Kristin tells The Boot. "In fact, I tell him all the time that he ruined it for me, which is why I'm single because I keep comparing men to him. Daddy issues, that would be me!'

The 43-year-old yearned to have someone -- or something -- to tend to besides herself, but since a son or daughter wasn't an immediate option, she welcomed a pet into her world instead. "Show business can make you so self-focused, even if you're not that kind of person," she explains. "Since I wasn't married and didn't have a child, I needed something to take care of. So I got a dog."

Hopefully her new addition to the family, a Maltese named Maddie, enjoys traveling. The Oklahoma native plans to hit the road early next year to play songs from her new CD. "I'm currently shooting a TV show for ABC ['Good Christian Belles'], so we wrap in November and I'll be announcing tour dates very soon," she reveals to The Boot. "I've never gotten to support an album with a tour. I'm excited about the challenge of it and to get to meet my fans that have not heard me do this. I have a lot to say on this album. The great thing about being a recording artist is you get to say something. It's wonderful to feel good about a vocal, but it's more important to be able to get a message across. That's why we sing, because we can't speak it! I had a lot to sing about, so I hope people will come and check me out on the road."

Kristin will first spend some time in Las Vegas, co-hosting the American Country Awards alongside Trace Adkins. The ACAs will air live on Monday, Dec. 5, at 8:00 PM ET on FOX.
