Kristian Bush is beginning his holiday celebrations early with the release of his new single, "Thinking About Drinking for Christmas."

Penned by Bush along with Brett James and Chris Young, the song playfully focuses on the fact that while Christmas may be one of the best times of year, it isn't always easy to be around so much extended family -- though if they bring the liquor, it might make things a bit better. "I am proud to release my first-ever Christmas single. It feels like it has been a long time coming, and it could be the beginning of something fun," Bush says in a press release. "I love Christmas music and have been writing Christmas songs as a tradition every year.

"Not sure if you feel like you might need a drink to handle your family during the holidays, but if you do, this could be your song," he continues. "Christmas has a soundtrack, and I want to be on yours."

Since both he and his Sugarland duo partner Jennifer Nettles split ways to pursue solo careers, Bush has been busy: He released the second single off of his solo album, Southern Gravity, earlier this year, and he's also the subject of a new documentary, Walk Tall: The Journey of Sugarland’s Kristian Bush.

"Thinking About Drinking for Christmas" is available for download via iTunes and Amazon.
