Harry Connick, Jr. has been announced as the latest addition to the judges' table for Season 13 of 'American Idol,' and he already has the support of one former 'Idol' contestant -- last season's runner-up, Kree Harrison.

"I think Harry Connick, Jr. will be great," she says (quote via CMT). "He's got such good wit, but more than anything, he's educated in music. I mean, he knows what he's talking about in that area, so I think he'd be good."

Connick, who served as Harrison's mentor during her competition earlier this year, is thrilled to participate in the reality TV show. "So excited to be on @AmericanIdol!!!" he tweeted last week, showing off his comedic side. "I've already judged my wife and daughters like three times this morning. Do they sell gavels on Amazon?"

The singer will join Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez as fellow judges, with longtime judge Randy Jackson serving as a mentor. Auditions have been going on all over the country, including stops in Austin, Omaha and Boston.

Season 13 of 'American Idol' will debut on Jan. 15, 2014 on Fox.
