Kix Brooks might live just outside of Nashville, but he's willing to travel pretty far for a worthwhile cause. The singer recently performed a sold-out show in Mason, Texas, to raise money for the Odeon Theater, which is the only single-screen theater currently in operation in the entire state.

The Louisiana native performed as part of the Odeon Theater Concert Series, to raise money to renovate the facility, and turn it into a performing arts center. It's a cause especially close to the singer-songwriter, who was a theater arts major at Louisiana Tech before moving to Music City to pursue his first love.

While Brooks spent more than 20 years as one-half of the award-winning duo, Brooks & Dunn, he never completely gave up his dreams of performing on the big screen as well. In addition to releasing his solo album, 'New to This Town,' Brooks has also starred in a couple of movies, including the recent Western, 'Ambush at Dark Canyon,' which he also produced.

“My fans have continued to let me keep doing what I do, whether that’s as an artist, radio host or actor,” he boasts. “They’ve given me the chance to try new things and a reason to work harder than I ever have before.”

'Ambush at Dark Canyon' is available for purchase here.
