Kip Moore is now officially a platinum-selling artist. The country newcomer's breakthrough single, "Somethin' 'Bout a Truck" has sold more than a million units.

"I had a hard enough time wrapping my head around gold, so there's no way I can wrap my head around platinum," says Kip. "It was validation for me that I was smart to stick to my guns and believe in myself all those years when it looked like nothing was happening. So often I wanted to cash in my chips and say, 'At least I played,' but I kept grinding and kept writing and writing and writing, and kept believing that at some point it was going to work. So it's a grateful moment to me that I kept my faith."

"Somethin' 'Bout a Truck," which topped the charts for two weeks, was co-written by Kip and Dan Couch. Its lyrics were inspired by a true story from the Georgia native's teen years.

"I had this little box car and by the time I got it passed down to me from my brothers, it had hundreds of thousands of miles on it already. I'd been going after this girl for awhile and got her to go out with me ... but she didn't seem real excited about the car. Poor me!" Kip laughs. "On one occasion, it broke down, so I asked my dad, 'Pop, I need your truck.' He said sure, so I took it to pick her up ... It was like I picked up a whole other human. She was vibrant and all about me; she was all over me from the beginning of the date. I came back inside and tossed my dad the keys and said, 'There's something about a truck.'"
