Kenny Chesney and Miranda Lambert Will Team Up for 2016 Summer Tour

Summer 2015 isn't even officially over yet, but Kenny Chesney already has his sights set on next year. The "Save It for a Rainy Day" singer has revealed that he and Miranda Lambert will team up for a stadium tour in the summer of 2016.

The two country music powerhouses, both of whom are up for Entertainer of the Year and Male and Female Vocalist of the Year, respectively, at the 2015 CMA Awards, first hit the road together back in 2009, on Chesney's Sun City Carnival Tour. Lambert also played with Chesney at his 2015 The Big Revival Tour stop in Chicago in June.

“Miranda is the real deal,” Chesney says in a press release. “She’s a songwriter, first, and a real vocalist. She’s puts it all out there when she’s on stage, and I loved touring with her so much in 2009, I can’t believe it’s taken us this long to get her back out here -- because I love every single thing about who she is as an artist and a person.”

Joining Chesney and Lambert will be Sam Hunt and Old Dominion, the latter of whom opened for Chesney this summer as well.

“Old Dominion had a tough job this summer, and they got it done,” Chesney says. “They’re hit songwriters, but they’re also guys who’ve played in a lot of clubs -- and know how to connect with people. I mean, not only are their songs solid, they’re great guys.”

Hunt has spent his last few months on the road with Lady Antebellum, on the trio's Wheels Up 2015 Tour. He is one of the writers of Chesney's 2012 hit "Come Over."

“The second I heard Sam’s demo for "Come Over," I knew he was onto something very unique,” Chesney recalls. “Watching him develop as an artist, seeing his songwriting evolve -- and knowing how he brings it when he gets onstage makes him a perfect act to come out with us. He’s fun, alive and all about the music.”

Chesney wrapped up his 2015 The Big Revival Tour on Aug. 29 in Foxboro, Mass. The trek set records at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., Target Field in Minneapolis, Minn., and Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa., among other stops.

“People count on having a great day when they come out to see us,” Chesney explains. “And I think it’s important that we give them the best show we can from the moment they hit the gate until the final encore song’s been played.”

Dates and venues for Chesney and Lambert's 2016 summer tour will be revealed at a later date. This fall, Lambert will embark on her all-female Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour with RaeLynn, Ashley Monroe, Courtney Cole and Clare Dunn.
