Kenny Chesney has a new member of the family! The country superstar is the proud owner of a Goldendoodle dog named Pancho, and he couldn't be more enamored with the animal.

"A friend gave it to me and said, 'Here, Kenny, you have to learn to attach to something!'" the "Come Over" singer tells People magazine. "God's honest truth! Now, I love the guy."

Kenny plans to take his new pet everywhere he goes, including on the road with him while he crosses the country with Tim McGraw, Jake Owen and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals on the Brothers of the Sun tour. "The plan is to take him on tour," he reveals. "We'll see if he's got what it takes."

Whether or not Pancho adapts to being a road dog, Kenny already knows he will have a companion when he's enjoying one of his favorite hobbies. "He loves the water," the singer-songwriter reports. "I took him down to my boat, and he jumps right off."

It's a good thing the Brothers of the Sun tickets are selling so well, because the multi-platinum-selling star might need the extra cash! "I'm buying stuff, buying things and I have no idea!" he recalls of his first shopping trip to Petsmart. "That's just a dog! I can't imagine having three kids [like Tim has]."

Kenny's Brothers of the Sun tour stops in Philadelphia, Pa. this weekend. See the complete list of concert dates here, and see a cute picture of Pancho here. No word yet on where the pup's name comes from, but we're guessing Kenny's a fan of Townes Van Zandt ... so maybe his next pet will be named Lefty.
