Kenny Chesney Dishes on What Didn’t Stay in Vegas
'Out Last Night,' the new single that Kenny Chesney debuted Sunday at the ACM Awards in Las Vegas, is about a couple of guys who swore they wouldn't go out, but then end up having one heck of a night on the town. So when The Boot caught up with Kenny back in Nashville this week, we had to ask him about the last time life imitated art.
"In Vegas!" he told us with a laugh. "I got there a little early, because my rehearsal was on Friday morning. So that meant I had Friday night to do whatever I want, without having to pay the price on Saturday. [laughs] So I had a fun night. I don't get to do that very often. Me and some of the band and crew went out and took full advantage."
And what a night they had. Kenny and his buddies went to the Playboy Club, where the country superstar was presented with an exclusive gift.
"There were these people with sparklers and a key inside some sort of Playboy Bunny case. They're giving me the key to this club, and I still don't know what it means, but we had a good time anyway!" said Kenny, who also joked, "I've gotta call George [Clooney] and see what it means."

That key is the only metal Kenny took home from his ACM Awards weekend, but he has no hard feelings about the end to his four-year streak of winning Entertainer of the Year. In fact, he gave this year's winner, Carrie Underwood, a big hug before she took the stage to accept the night's biggest honor, and the two exchanged several words. We were nosy and asked Kenny just what it was he said to Carrie.
"I told her that I loved her, that I was proud of her. I told her to enjoy it and take it in," he revealed. "I know what it means to stand in that spot, and not everybody gets to stand in that spot. What happened to her is historic, and it's hard to get there. I've been fortunate enough to stand up there four times, and I may be able to stand up there again. But if I don't, I'm very excited that my life has turned out the way it has!"
Kenny's 'Greatest Hits II' album is set for release on May 19. The singer also talked to The Boot about the tracks on the compilation that are nearest and dearest to his heart. We'll bring you that part of our interview with Kenny next week.
