Kelsea Ballerini's name hasn't been around country music for very long, but with her New Female Vocalist of the Year and 2016 ACM Awards performance, it's looking like this is the beginning of a strong career for the singer.

Ballerini took the stage to treat the audience to "Love Me Like You Mean It" as well as her new single "Peter Pan," which she performed with pop star Nick Jonas. She looked every bit the superstar she's becoming in a short blue dress with a flowing train and sky-high heels. While "Love Me Like You Mean It" is cheeky and sweet, "Peter Pan" is much more new, and she showed her sentimental side during the performance.

“You’re always gonna fly away, just because you know you can / You’re never gonna learn there’s no such place as Neverland,” she sang. “You don’t understand / You’ll never grow up / You’re never gonna be a man / Peter Pan.”

Jonas joined her on the chorus and showed off a short guitar solo, but the clear star onstage was Ballerini. She not only has spunk and personality, she also has depth, and that's what she wanted to show the audience.

“In my heart, I knew this is the one I have to release,” she tells The Boot. “And I think right when people think they might have me pegged, I kind of want to change their minds.”

Ballerini’s two previous singles, “Love Me Like You Mean It” and “Dibs,” have both hit No. 1. She'll be touring the country with Rascal Flatts on their Rhythm & Roots Tour which kicks off in June.
