Kelsea Ballerini clearly had some fun filming her cheeky new music video for her song "I Hate Love Songs," which playfully steers clear of all the classic tropes of romantic ballads. Readers can press play above to get a refreshing dose of cynicism for themselves.

Right off the bat, the "Peter Pan" singer starts poking fun at the cliche things associated with love, falling confetti hitting her on the face as she reclines on a red, spinning, heart-shaped couch. The video pans through a collection of classically over-the-top scenes, including a botched proposal, an awkward near-kiss in the rain and a dramatic game of "he loves me, he loves me not" as Ballerini plucks the petals from a bouquet of roses and tosses them, one by one, in the direction of the camera.

Ballerini makes it clear that cheesy, over-the-top displays of affection aren't her style, as she dodges bridal bouquets and pops red balloons. Despite her desire to stay away from love songs and all things associated with them, Ballerini's feelings towards her man come off strong. The video concludes with Ballerini being handed an incoming call from "M" on her cellphone, an obvious shootout to her husband Morgan Evans.

“I Hate Love Songs” is off of Ballerini's latest release, Unapologetically, available on iTunes now. Ballerini recently performed the song onstage at Nissan stadium at the 2018 CMA Fest, where she also returned as co-host -- opposite Thomas Rhett -- of the festival's televised special, which will air on Aug. 8, 2018.
