Kelsea Ballerini is one of the most sought-after opening acts in country music right now: She's spending the first half of the year serving as an opening act on Thomas Rhett's Home Team Tour, and then will hit the road with Lady Antebellum, on Lady A's You Look Good World Tour, which kicks off in May.

"[Rhett] is on fire," Ballerini tells the Boot. "He’s the hottest male in country music right now. More than that, he’s a properly good human being. His wife is amazing, so we’re going to have girl time the whole time. He’s bringing a trainer on the road, so that will be fun, and also not fun.

"Lady A, I’m friends with all of them, particularly Hillary [Scott], and our bands are friends, and so it’s going to be like a reunion for a whole summer," Ballerini adds, "which is going to be really fun."

Ballerini and Scott are so close, in fact, that the Lady A singer has helped Ballerini celebrate a several of her biggest milestones: "She had a surprise party for me at her house for my 21st birthday," Ballerini recalls. "She celebrated my first two No. 1s with me ...

"She’s always there to encourage me, uplift me," Ballerini adds. "She’s a very special human being."

Ballerini is going to be making wedding plans while out on the road as well: The 23-year-old got engaged to Australian singer-songwriter Morgan Evans at Christmas.

"He’s really hot," Ballerini gushes of her future husband. "He’s coming over here this year to start his music career over here. [He's the] kindest heart I’ve ever met in my life, and I’m excited for everyone to get to know him."

In addition to her time out on the road, Ballerini is looking forward to the release of her sophomore album, which will include a collaboration with Evans. The "Yeah Boy" singer says that her new project will be an evolution from her freshman album, The First Time.

“I’m so excited about it,” Ballerini gushes. “I thought that I was attached to my first one, and this one is even more so; it’s, like, me in music form. I think it’s going to be a lot more bolder, a lot lighter and a whole lot darker than my first album.”

Ballerini is nominated for two ACM Awards this year: Female Vocalist of the Year and Video of the Year, for her No. 1 single "Peter Pan." A list of all of Ballerini's upcoming shows is available on her website.
