Kelly Clarkson proved she could sing when she won Season 1 of American Idol, and now, she's proved that she can sing the blues with a cover of Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason."

The 1995 hit gets a fresh new makeover from Clarkson. Armed with a brand-new haircut, the singer has some edge in her tone while singing the single from Chapman's record New Beginning. "Give Me One Reason" won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song and was also nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Female Rock Vocal Performance.

With her performance of the song, Clarkson shows off her impeccable vocals, which seem perfect paired with the blues-influenced tune. She's soulful, gritty and powerful, combining into a cover song that fans will want to listen to again and again.

Even though Clarkson is well-known for her pop sensibilities, as displayed on her Piece By Piece album, which was released on March 3, and her new single "Heartbeat Song," she's open to venturing into other genres -- namely, country. She's certainly not a stranger to the country world and has announced that her next record will be country.

“I’ve actually been creating both albums, a country one and [Piece By Piece] at the same time,” Clarkson says. “I’ve been working on both projects simultaneously.

“But I will have a country album that will come out,” Clarkson continues. “I always tell people I might do Broadway one day, I might do an R&B album. I just like music. It doesn’t just stop at just one genre. That’s what’s cool about pop — it encompasses all of it because it’s whatever is popular.”
