Did Kelly Clarkson and fiance Brandon Blackstock cancel their elaborate wedding plans because she is pregnant? Tabloids have been buzzing that the former 'American Idol' champ is eloping because she is already with child, but the singer says it's simply not true.

Clarkson responded to the rumors via Twitter.

The 31-year-old says they decided to scale back their plans when they realized that the event was becoming much more than what they both wanted for their special day. “Our whole life is a celebration. That’s what we kept laughing about,” she explains. “We don’t need another day where we throw a big party. Our lives are so in the spotlight all the time. Everything is such a spectacle, we were like, ‘We would rather have an intimate moment that’s special.’”

Not that Clarkson is completely opposed to taking on the parental role. She is about to become a step-mom to Blackstock's two children  -- 12-year-old Savannah and Seth, six -- and says she relishes her new role.

“We all live together and everything. It’s so different, but it’s perfect,” she says. “They’re awesome, and I actually really dig the mom thing.”

Clarkson's holiday album, 'Wrapped in Red' will be released on Oct. 29. She is spending most of the next few months on the road, including a show Monday night (Aug. 26) in Cleveland, Ohio. See all of her upcoming shows here.
