Keith Urban Headed Down Under With Oprah
When Oprah Winfrey takes her show to Australia next month, she'll be taking along one of the country's most famous exports. It's none other than Keith Urban, who has confirmed his appearance on what is one of the most anticipated shows of the season.
In September at the ACM Honors in Nashville, Keith was asked about the possibility of being on Oprah's Australian shows, and he thought it would be a terrific idea. "It's beautiful, and it's a great time of year to be down there," Keith told The Boot. "Go Oprah. Everybody's gonna have a great time. And hopefully, we may end up down there. That would be great if we could."
Keith will tape his 'Oprah' episode on December 14 at the Sydney Opera House. Other Aussies likely to appear on one of the three shows Down Under include Hugh Jackman, Cate Blanchett and Naomi Watts, and rumor has it Keith's wife, Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman, will also appear.
In the 25th season premiere -- and her final season -- the talk show queen surprised the 300 audience members with a trip of a lifetime to Australia ... and the pilot for their trip will be actor John Travolta. Check out the video here.
Oprah's trip to Australia is part of the country's tourism promotion with funding from the federal and NSW government, and is in partnership with Qantas Airlines. It will also be the first time she has filmed her television show outside the United States.
Prior to his appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Keith will take to the stage at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium to perform several of his songs during halftime as the Cowboys play host to the New Orleans Saints on Thanksgiving Day (November 25). The Grammy winner is currently scaling the country charts with his hit 'Put You in a Song' from his brand new album, 'Get Closer.'
