If Nicole Kidman was hoping for a low-key evening on the sidelines as her husband, country superstar Keith Urban, hosted the 2018 ARIA Awards, she was in for a cringe-worthy -- but adorable -- surprise during the ceremony, which took place on Wednesday evening (Nov. 28) in Sydney, Australia.

To kick off the evening, the superstar couple posed for pictures on the red carpet. In some of the photos, Kidman and Urban were joined by Kidman's niece, Lucia Hawley, who also attended the ceremony. In an Instagram post prior to the ceremony, Kidman explained that she couldn't wait to attend the ceremony with Hawley and watch Urban take the stage for his hosting duties. See below for pictures of all three hanging out during the festivities!

However, during his opening monologue, Urban -- a five-time ARIA winner himself -- couldn't help but bring his wife into the spotlight. "Hi baby! She's right in the front row," the country superstar said after taking the stage, pointing out a laughing and blushing Kidman to the audience.

During the rest of his monologue, Urban discussed the growth and prevalence of Australian music and art, beginning the evening with a reminder of the importance of respecting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples "as the traditional custodians of this land." He went on to elaborate on how all forms of music -- even "thrash polka" -- inspires him as long as it prizes honesty, and ended with a word of warning to the evening's winners.

"First of all, the trophies are very sharp. Very, very, very sharp," Urban deadpanned. "Now, I'm not necessarily saying they're the biggest pricks in the room, but they're damn close.

"Also, try and keep your speeches short! Good luck on that," he continued. "The producers do have music, and they will absolutely play your a-- off if you prattle on and on and on."
