Alt-rock band Weezer stopped at Nashville's Ascend Amphitheater on Wednesday night (July 13), and they had a surprise in store for the crowd: Near the end of their set, the quartet welcomed Kacey Musgraves to the stage to help sing their song "Island in the Sun."

The country star and the band performed an acoustic rendition of the tropical tune, with Musgraves offering harmony vocals during the first half of the song before taking lead on the second verse; when the audience began clapping along, Weezer lead singer Rivers Cuomo held the microphone out to let them sing a chorus as well. "Thanks for havin' me up tonight in Nashville, @Weezer!!" Musgraves tweeted after Wedensday night's show, along with a short video of the performance.

"Island in the Sun" comes from Weezer's 2001 self-titled album. The song was released as a single in August of that year. Musgraves has been known to cover "Island in the Sun" at her concerts, though she did not do so on her latest trek, the Country & Western Rhinestone Revue.

Musgraves released her sophomore album, Pageant Material, in June of 2015, and she's now working on a Christmas record. She's performing at a number of festivals this summer, as well as the 2016 Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival in September and the 2016 ACL Music Festival. Musgraves will also open for George Strait in Las Vegas shows this fall.
