Justin Moore finally got his wish, and it was worth the wait. The singer performed an abbreviated version of his latest single, 'Lettin' the Night Roll' during the 2014 ACM Awards, which marks the first time the singer was ever invited to perform at a major awards show.

Moore also received his first nomination this year, ironically for New Artist of the Year. But while fans wondered why he was nominated in that category, after more than five years in country music, the Arkansas native says for him, it makes perfect sense.

“It sounds kind of funny, but I’m kind of a country music history buff,” he explains. “Throughout the history of this award, people have won it well into their careers. [Kenny] Chesney won it five, six, seven years after his first album … so it sounds a little funnier than what it historically has, who’s won it over the years, so hopefully we’re the next one in line. We’ll see.”

Moore is competing with Kip Moore and Brett Eldredge for New Artist of the Year.
