Justin Moore has earned plenty of country radio hits -- 11 in the Top 40, to be exact -- throughout his career. However, the singer admits that he still struggles with picking radio-friendly tunes.

"That’s the hardest thing in the world to do," Moore tells The Boot. "I’m the guy who would cut an album that sounded like it came out in 1992 if I thought anybody would play it. I know the fans want to hear it, but I know it isn't going to get played ...

"That’s what’s in my heart and comes out of me naturally, but that said, I understand that there’s a whole new generation of people who don’t even know what I’m talking about, have never heard of those types of songs, that type of music," he adds. "The music’s ever changing."

Fortunately, the Arkansas native says that if he focuses on the songs, he inevitably finds a balance between what he likes and what will get played at radio.

"I think for me, the way that you do that without selling out is just -- at the core, it’s always been this, and I think it always will be this: The songs that cut through, no matter if it’s pop country, rock country, rap country, whatever it is -- the songs that are successful and cut through are great songs," Moore muses. "I think as long as you can continue to cut what you believe are great songs, then you can never be considered a sellout."

Moore's latest Top 40 single is "You Look Like I Need a Drink," which is his debut single from an upcoming new album. The song is available for download on iTunes.
