Justin Moore’s Bus Catches Fire

Justin Moore‘s career isn’t the only thing on fire. Wednesday morning (February 16), his bus also lit up. The ‘Small Town USA‘ singer and his band slept while the engine of their bus was engulfed in flames around 4:00 AM, as they traveled to Royal Oaks, Mich. Thankfully, everyone is OK.

“We really love coming to the Detroit area. I just hope in the future it gets a little more simple, as far as our trips go!” Justin says with a laugh. “In all seriousness, we’re thankful that we’re all safe, and feel blessed. It could’ve been a lot worse than it was.”

It seems that Justin may be cursed when it comes to playing the Royal Oaks Theatre. The last time he headlined a show at the venue in March 2010, his Gibson J-45 guitar was stolen. “I thought they were playing a joke on me,” Justin said. “Come to find out, a fan just walked on stage after the show and grabbed it.” Luckily, with the help of the WYCD/Detroit radio station, the instrument was returned.

Wednesday’s fire started from a battery connected to the generator of the bus. Thanks to a functional smoke alarm, everyone evacuated in time, and Justin’s driver extinguished the blaze, which burned for approximately 10 minutes.

Justin and crew spent about 30 minutes in the winter weather before they were allowed to re-enter the bus, which only sustained minor smoke damage. Fortunately, the engine was good enough to continue to their hotel. Justin made it to WYCD’s Ten Man Jam in time for the show, with only an elevated heart rate.

A replacement bus was sent to take Justin to the rest of his tour dates this week. He plays the Machine Shop in Flint, Mich. tonight (February 17), followed by Screamin’ Willies in Columbus, Ohio Friday (February 18) and the Madison Theater in Covington, Ky. Saturday (February 19).

Justin’s next single ‘If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away,’ is already in the top 40 on the charts. The song is the first song from the singer’s sophomore album, which is expected later this year.
