JT Hodges, ‘The Dance’: Country Newcomer Covers Garth Brooks [VIDEO]
Today marks the release of JT Hodges new single, ‘Goodbyes Made You Mine,’ but in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, the Texas-born singer is offering fans a second romantic song, free of charge. It’s a solo acoustic video performance of Garth Brooks‘ ‘The Dance,’ and in the black-and-white clip (after the jump), the up-and-coming country singer turns in a sincere, understated performance.
One of Garth’s best-known tunes, ‘The Dance’ can best be summed up with a cliched phrase: It’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. In the song, the narrator looks back on a relationship that ended badly but left behind a lasting memory of one perfect moment: “the dance we shared beneath the stars above.”
JT may finally be dancing again following the knee surgery he underwent late last year. The former multi-sport high school athlete is prepping the release of his debut album, due out later this year on Toby Keith‘s Show Dog-Universal label.
