Josh Thompson OK Following Bus Crash
Josh Thompson is feeling grateful today that he and his bandmates are all fine following an early morning bus crash on Sunday (Sept. 9), while en route to a concert in Arkansas.
"Was involved in a small bus accident this morning, everyone's ok and we're on a new not so broken bus headed to Little Rock," the singer tweeted following the crash.
Josh, who reports that the accident happened when the bus hit a guardrail, admits it was a scary few minutes for everyone on board. "It's not a fun way to wake up, being tossed out of the bunk," he acknowledges to Taste of Country. "It was a close call, but thank God nobody was hurt, and we made it to the show on time. Hopefully we can check this off the list forever."
This year has been a tough one for bus mishaps. Lee Brice, Chris Young, Jerrod Niemann and Joe Diffie have all watched their homes-away-from-home go up in flames in 2012, while Justin Moore and Bucky Covington both suffered bus accidents.
Josh, who left RCA Records in July, will resume touring as scheduled, with a show in Tennessee tomorrow night (Sept. 11), followed by concerts in Virginia, Iowa and Minnesota. He's out playing hits both old and new, the latter of which will be on a forthcoming album that the Wisconsin native has already recorded and will hopefully release on a new label soon.
"I brought a lot of writers out on the road, so the songwriting hasn't gone down at all," he told The Boot of his sophomore CD. "I make sure I write often, but the time to get into the studio was ridiculous. It was a Monday here and Tuesday there ... pretty much whenever the schedule would allow. It was probably a four month process as opposed to a week-and-a-half. If you put them all together they add up to that, but it was just ridiculous, waiting."
