John Rich is going solo. The mustached-half of the powerhouse duo Big & Rich has announced that he'll release an album under his own name later this year. But don't worry -- he's not breaking up with Big Kenny.

"When we decided to take this year off so Kenny could focus on rehabilitation for a pre-existing injury, I asked Kenny if he was cool with me recording a solo project. I would only do this with Kenny's blessing," Rich explains. "So this year you can expect a solo record from me, but Big & Rich will be back in 2009!"

2008 is shaping up to be a busy year for Rich. He's hosting a new reality show on CMT, 'Gone Country,' which makes its debut tonight. On the show, celebrity contestants ranging from Twisted Sister's Dee Snider to 'The Brady Bunch's' Maureen McCormick will compete for a career in country music.

But the projects don't stop there. Rich is also said to be writing with Jessica Simpson for her upcoming country album. Additionally, he has producing credits on upcoming albums by Jewel and former Alabama frontman Randy Owen.
