Jo Dee Messina has canceled a scheduled appearance for Tuesday (Aug. 12), due to the passing of a family member.

Messina released her most recent album, 'Me,' in March. She has been making the rounds to promote the project, including a planned appearance on Nashville's Renegade Radio for Tuesday. Her fans found out via social media that the show had been canceled.

Subsequent posts on Facebook appear to indicate that Messina's aunt -- her mother's sister -- passed away, but that is unconfirmed. The singer's mother was hospitalized repeatedly last year after undergoing open heart surgery.

Messina has been touring to promote 'Me.' According to her website, her next scheduled show is on Aug. 16 in Fairmont, Minn. It does not appear that any other events will be affected.

The Boot extends our condolences to Jo Dee Messina and her family.
